Empower Pacific - Solomon Islands 

Empower Pacific is a locally registered Non-Government Organization (NGO) in Solomon Islands. It is affiliated with Empower Pacific in Fiji. Empower Pacific has been in existence in Fiji for last 22 years providing counselling and social services. For last 10 years or more, its services have been sourced out by Fiji Ministry of Health and Medical Services in providing counselling and social services in various hospital facilities throughout Fiji.

Also it very closely works with Department of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation in child protection issues as well as providing counselling to children. For last 7 years the organization worked with Prisons Department providing counselling and rehabilitation programs. Also counselling and social work programs are available to communities through the community based programs.

In addition, there are various training programs that are aimed to address and provide awareness on social issues including behavior change. These training programs are positive parenting, self-care of carers, Mens behavior change, stress management, anger management and many others.

The men’s behavior change program forms part of the Gender Based Violence (GBV) initiative which is an important program to address GBV issues. Empower Pacific counsellors and social workers work very closely with survivors of violence providing counselling, safe housing assistance, legal assistance and any other support as per the need. Annually in Fiji 20,000 individuals access Empower Pacific services of which almost 80% are women and girls.

Empower Pacific Fiji will support its counterpart in Solomon Islands to replicate and tailor most it its programs that has been successfully implemented in Fiji. This includes counselling and social services, GBV program, Child protection, training programs and Diploma of counselling course.

Empower Pacific programs in Solomon Islands are support by Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) – Australian Aid. This includes provision of counselling and social services including trainings.
